Before and After

How to get ready
for your spray tan.

Exfoliate Your Skin

  • Use a gentle exfoliator or a mitt to remove dead skin cells several hours before your appointment. This helps the tan apply evenly and last longer. Rinse with cold water at the end to close pores.

Shave or Wax in Advance

  • Shave or wax at least 24–48 hours before your spray tan to allow your pores to close properly.

Avoid Lotions, Perfumes, and Deodorants

  • On the day of your appointment, keep your skin free of oils, lotions, deodorants, or perfumes. These can create a barrier and affect
    the tan’s application.

Wear Loose, Dark Clothing

  • Choose loose-fitting, dark clothes for your appointment to avoid smudging your tan.

Plan Around Activities

  • Avoid water, sweating, or activities like swimming and exercising for at least 6–8 hours after your tan to let it fully develop.

Aftercare tips
for your spray tan.

Wait to Shower

  • Avoid showering, sweating, washing your hands, or getting wet for the designated time advised by your spray tanning technician.

Rinse Gently

  • During your first shower, use lukewarm water and avoid scrubbing. Let the water run over your skin until it runs clear. Pat your skin dry with a towel—don’t rub.

 Moisturize Regularly

  • Keep your skin hydrated by applying a moisturizer at least twice daily. Look for a formula without harsh chemicals or oils that might strip your tan.

 Avoid Exfoliating

  • Skip exfoliators, scrubs, or anything abrasive for the duration of your tan to prolong its life.

Wear Loose Clothing

  • Continue to wear loose, dark clothing immediately after your tan to avoid rubbing or smudging the color.

Avoid Harsh Products

  • Use gentle, sulfate-free body washes and avoid products with alcohol or retinol, as they can cause your tan to fade unevenly.

  • Pro tip *Only use soap in the important areas ;) to make the overall tan last longer.

Be Mindful of Hair Removal

  • Avoid waxing completely, as this will completely strip the tan. Avoid shaving as much as possible to maintain an even tan. If needed, use a new razor and a light touch.

Limit Long, Hot Showers

  • Prolonged exposure to hot water can dry out your skin and fade your tan more quickly.

Embrace a Gradual Fade

  • Expect your tan to fade naturally over 5–10 days. Pro tip: You can use a body scrub/exfoliating mitt to help assist the process of a natural fade.
